An area
extending along the banks of the River Panaro, Savignano’s
historic and cultural heritage can be traced back to
prehistoric times; the Venus statue, the museum of the
elephant, and the medieval hamlet all testify to this
culture.
There are
many reasons for visiting Savignano, from the sports festival
(Festa dello Sport) to the national equestrian competition
(Gara Nazionale Equestre), the theatre season and the
Christmas markets, the Battle for the “Contrari” Sword (Lotta
per la Spada dei Contrari) in September and the museums
dedicated to the Venus statue (Museo della Venere) and the
elephant (Museo dell'Elefante).
There are
many facilities for sports enthusiasts - the recently
constructed cycle path from Savignano sul Panaro to Modena,
more than 30km long, the Percorso Sole (Sun Trail) along the
River Panaro, the sports centre just 300 metres away, sports
fishing lakes and an Olympic swimming pool.
In the old hamlet, Francesca and Guido welcome you into
their home, a recently restructured medieval tower, with two
bright and comfortable rooms with air conditioning and TV,
private bathroom for guests’ use. Enjoy breakfast in the
garden, in the shade of luxuriant cherry and peach trees.
Savignano is also ideal for those who need to travel to
Bologna and Modena or for visits to the nearby trade fairs. It
is located approximately 12 miles from both cities. There are
very good transport links taking you to Bologna central
railway station via a train service in 30 minutes. The
industrial areas of Sassuolo, where ceramic is manufactured
and Carpi, famous for its textiles are also within easy reach.
